NGO donates medicines to District Hospital
ITANAGAR, June 10: The Tribal Welfare & Development Society (TWDS), Changlang donated medicines worth of Rs.71,500 to District Hospital Changlang in presence of Changlang Deputy Commissioner Chanchal Yadav in a simple function held at the hospital premises today.
Chairman of T WDS N.Changmi handed the medicines over to the Superintendent of the District Hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner called upon the members of the NGO to also create public awareness on the importance of education, maintain cleanliness and good hygiene practices. She also urged the NGO to help the district administration to eradicate the drugs and opium menace in the district.
The district medical officer and the Superintendent of the district hospital also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the noble work rendered by the society.
Earlier, the NGO organized a free medical camp last month in Changlang, Yatdam and Khimyang circles.
DM asks residents to shift to safer places
ITANAGAR, June 10: District Magistrate, Itanagar Capital Complex in an order under section 133 CrPC, 1973 has suggested residents of Capital Complex living in areas that are very prone to landslide, mudslide and flooding to move to safer places.
Those people who do not follow the order and are still staying in such areas will not be entitled to claim any compensation whatsoever in case of any disaster in future, the order said.
The order has been issued in view of the incessant rainfall triggering massive landslides, mudslides, flooding, road blockades and house collapse leading to loss of lives and properties in Capital Complex.

ROING, June 10: To ensure an error free and authenticated electoral roll, a training on National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) was conducted by District Election Office here today.
The Election Commission of India has given top priority to maintenance of electoral rolls to avoid any defects and errors such as multiple entries, repeating images, repeating EPIC number, etc. that still exist. And to avoid this, ECI launched NERPAP on March 3 this year with a clear timeline and well defined goal.

MLA visits landslide victims and Itanagar Mosque
ITANAGAR, June 10: Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Techi Kasso alongwith Councilor (Ward No 5) Taba Yall Nabam today visited Ajin Colony, where two persons of a family were buried alive by a landslide yesterday.
Both the MLA and the councilor met the wife and son of late Shankar, who were battling for their lives at RK Mission Hospital here.
The MLA provided some financial assistance to the victim duo as an immediate relief.

Six arrested in EE office vandalisation case
ITANAGAR, June 10: Nirjuli Police has arrested all the six alleged accused for the attack on Executive Engineer (Power), Nirjuli division and office vandalisation case.
After being informed about the incident, Police swung into action and arrested Tana Tamar, Teri Takar, Tana Sanju, Tana Tahe, Nabam Tado Hina and Sanam Tana Tara, informed City SP Seju P Kuruvilla.
The accused have been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
A case has been registered in this connection under section 448/341/333/427/395/34 IPC r/w sec.3 of PDPP Act at Nirjuli Police Station.
The miscreants had attacked Executive Engineer Ajay Murtem in his office yesterday evening and also damaged office equipments.
In another incident, Naharlagun Police has arrested one Ratnesh Kumar Pandey on charges of faking his own kidnapping.
The arrested person, a tuition master by profession of Doimukh, reportedly planned the fake kidnapping to resolve family problem, the SP said.
A fresh case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station Under Section 182/195/211 IPC against the person for misguiding the police by giving false and fabricated evidence. He has been remanded to police custody for detailed interrogation.

The District Institute of Educational Training (DIET) at Papu Nallah is under the threat of landslide on all four sides of the hillock it is situated. The Arunachal Pradesh Graduate Engineers Association (APGEA) and Unemployed Arunachalee Engineers Association (UAEA) have strongly condemned the assault on Ajay Murtem, executive engineer, power department. In separate press releases, both the organisations called for appropriate action against the person involved in such heinous act. “It is very unfortunate that engineers of the state have been attacked repeatedly. However no single concrete action has been taken against any perpetrators by the law enforcing agency so far,” the APGEA stated in a release.
Meanwhile, All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has condemned the assault on the EE (Power) Electrical Division, Nirjuli, Ajay Murtem and demanded arrest of all the culprits involved in the incident and to award them exemplary punishment.

Call all party meeting over stapled visa issue, ACS tells Govt

ITANAGAR, June 10: After managing to draw the Centre’s attention on the stapled visa issue by staging a protest rally at New Delhi near the Chinese Embassy recently, Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) today demanded the state government to call an all party meeting to discuss over the issue. ACS claimed that no politicians, be it the ruling BJP in the Centre and Congress in the State have so far come forward to resolve the long pending issue with the Chinese authorities.
Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, ACS chairman Patey Tayum stated that the state government should bring all the legislators irrespective of party into confidence to sign a resolution against the stapled visa issue. Terming stapled visa issue, as identity crisis of the Arunachalees, ACS Chairman said, people should come forward to raise this issue.
He further said that the issue is no longer confined in Arunachal rather it has become a national issue. Tayum disclosed that Indian Forum against Staples Visa has been formed after the Delhi protest to carry forward the issue, which is being participated by volunteers from nine states. “ACS is trying to create awareness on stapled visa among the people of India”, said Toko Mina ACS member.
Earlier in its strong worded representation to the Chinese Ambassador, ACS unequivocally stated that Arunachal is an integral part of undivided India culturally since time immemorial. ACS also stated that Arunachal is the 24th State of Union Republic of India. People in Arunachal have been participating in the democratic exercise of India in selecting their own state government and the members of parliament.
ACS will be submitting a representation to the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on the issue seeking his intervention to expedite for permanent solution so that Arunachalees should not be deprived in accessing regular Chinese visa.

Seppa, June 10: Sometime past 2 AM on June 6, two gunshots rang out near the Bazaar Line area in Seppa, the headquarter of East Kameng district.
An hour and a half later, the police station received an anonymous call informing that two persons lay dead at the DUDA tourist lodge near the market. A police team led by DSP Bomto Kamdak and investigating officer CA Namchoom rushed to the spot and found one body in room number 108, and another, wrapped in a Chinese blanket, near the lodge’s entrance gate. Upon searching the bodies, the police found identity cards.
The body with the bullet mark on the head was identified as that of Alang Sario, 22, and the other body, which bore deep gashes and had half of its skull missing, was identified as that of Chogung Sario, 52.
The police linked the murders to the recent killing of one Choya Lamnio by one Fayang Sario, who is currently booked under 302/201/34IPC R/W section 27 Arms Act. The two murdered persons at the tourist lodge were identified as Fayang’s father and brother. They had been killed in retaliation.
Sources said that on May 17 last Choya, 52, along with five men had gone to Sapapuh jungle in Khenewa area to collect medicinal plants. The group was carrying an SBBL gun. Five days later, the party returned to Lamnio village, but without Choya. The men told his relatives that he had gone missing.
Choya’s son and other relatives went to the jungle in search of the mission person; but despite their efforts they found no clue of Choya’s whereabouts.
Suspecting foul play by the five men, Choya’s relatives brought them to the Seppa police station, where one of them confessed during interrogation that he had accidentally shot Choya with the SBBL gun and later concealed his body in the jungle.
A case was registered and the police arrested all five for the alleged murder of Choya Lamnio.
On the evening of June 5, Choya’s son Pritam Lamnio booked a room in the DUDA tourist
lodge. Some hours later, he along with two or three others brought Chogung Sario
and Alang Sario from Type-
They then tried to carry away Alang Sario’s body, which bore bullet injuries, to another location. But on seeing the movement of vehicles on the road nearby, they left the body near the tourist lodge’s gate. Police said Chogung Sario must have been attacked with a dao while he was asleep as there was no sign of struggle in the room.
Pritam Lamnio, Senia Lamnio and Atum Lamnio have since been arrested for the duo’s murder and booked under 302/34IPC R/W section 27 Arms Act.
“The vehicle used by the accused during commission of crime has been seized and investigation is going on for recovering the firearms and the machetes,” Kamdak said.

Valedictory function of North East NSS festival
Nararlagun, June 10: Manipur emerged as the best team in the week-
Suraj Kumar Oinam of Manipur was adjudged as the best male NSS volunteer while Arunachal’s Koj Mary was chosen as the best female NSS volunteer.
About 300 NSS volunteers from all the eight North Eastern states participated in the festival which started on June 6.
Parliamentary Secretary for IPR and Education, Bamang Feliex who attended the valedictory function, urged all the participants to share ideas, knowledge and cultures through such programme to know each other better. He further urged the participating youths to spread the message of peace, love and brotherhood among the people of the region and the country.

Shun violent method
The incident of assaults on government officials continues unabated in the state. In the latest such incident, yesterday Executive Engineer Power department, Nirjuli division was assaulted by a group of people. The incident took place in the evening hour at his office. As per the report, group of seven boys attacked him and also ransacked office over a work order issue.
Today police arrested all the accused and have put them behind the bar. The incident has been condemned by everyone. Every time such incident takes place condemnation pours in from cross section of the society. However apart from condemnation, no concentrate action takes place. After few days everyone forgets about the incident and moves on. The criminals also get bail easily which further emboldens them. But the question is how long such casual attitude towards crime will continue? Besides ensuring stringent punishment to the criminals, the society also needs to socially boycott such outlawed persons. Unless elders come out and properly guide the young generation Arunachalees, the situation will only get worse in days to come. People of Arunachal should understand that violence is not the solution to the problem. They should seek legal help to fight if they feel discriminated.

Retrospect and then comment
Dear Editor,
In response to the title “Give them a chance too” which was published on 3rd June’2015 in your esteemed daily. We would like to apprise that, whatever published was not authentic as well as do not reflect the ground reality of GHSS Rumgong.
According to one Nini Tapak, the reasons for the results of school being poor was because of poor teaching as well as irregularities by the subject teachers.
Here we would like to clarify that we have never neglected our teaching whatever subjects/topics is assigned to us. Moreover all the teachers are well qualified & produce good pass percentage for last couple of years. In such a scenario, how can you say that our teaching was poor? And there is no question of irregularities of subject teachers as we have taught regularly in every possible way.
Second reason was non completion of syllabus. In this regard, last year there were only 4 subject teachers (PGTs) i.e., in English, Hindi, History & Geography. The English (PGT) was on maternity leave and the three subject teachers have completed the syllabus on the scheduled time & some teachers have done revision too.
Third reason was some teachers never turn up to the school throughout the year. Surprisingly, the above reason has shocked and disheartened us as it questions sincerity & dedication. If there was/were any teacher(s) who did not turn up throughout the year then let us know the fact. We ask you who was/were those teacher(s).
Fourth reason was some teachers teaches the students for 2-
According to Tapak, in class 10, there were 35 students, 8 were able to pass. Actually, there were 31 students & 8 students have qualified but that doesn’t mean that rest have failed instead they have been placed in EIOP. Further, according to him in class 12 there were 42 students, 19 passed, 10 compt. &13 failed but the fact is, there were 44 students, 27 passed, 07 compt. & 10 failed.
Therefore, instead of blaming & criticizing the teachers of GHSS Rumgong, Tapak must retrospect and ask what he has done for the good cause of school & its students. So, we definitely would like to ask the writer how many times he has gone to the authorities for filling up the vacant positions of subjects teachers in Economics(PGT), Pol/Science (PGT),Maths(TGT),Science (TGT), Pol/Science (TGT),Economics (TGT),History(TGT) & Geography(TGT).

This release is in response to your article published on 4th June 2015 captioned
“BJP Dismisses NYP Claim”. In this connection we would like to clarify that NYP is
sincerely monitoring and working for the success of the Community Horticulture Farming
for Livelihood Generation project covering 125 villages in Anjaw district sanctioned
by NABARD. Our staff and beneficiaries are working together for the success of the
project. The project will be implemented over six years in 2 phases covering 1016
tribal families in Anjaw. In the first phase 656 families are being assisted for
development of one acre plot of land for cultivation of horticulture and large cardamom
crops. As per terms and conditions of sanction, financial assistance is released
in 6 monthly intervals based on physical requirements as per the approved plan. The
project was launched on 2nd December 2014 and in the first implementation during
6 month we have been able to complete all the assigned work such as distribution
of apple, orange, kiwi, plum and large cardamom to all the 656 beneficiaries. Also
have organised various trainings, exposure visits in Gujarat and Dirang-
We are sharing all information with District Administration and submitting regular reports to NABARD office (financing agency).
NABARD is monitoring the project closely and the misuse of funds or any other shortcomings will not arise. NYP head office is also looking after all the activities directly.
As per the monitoring of the project is concerned, there is a project monitoring committee in this regard and the program reports are addressed in the meetings of the committee. We assure that we will leave no stone unturned to bring overall success of the project in Anjaw.
