ACS claimed that no politicians, be it the ruling BJP in the Centre and Congress in the State have so far come forward to resolve the long pending issue with the Chinese authorities.

Killing in the name of revenge

Karpu Chisi

Seppa, June 10: Sometime past 2 AM on June 6, two gunshots rang out near the Bazaar Line area in Seppa, the headquarter of East Kameng district.

An hour and a half later, the police station received an anonymous call informing that two persons lay dead at the DUDA tourist lodge near the market. A police team led by DSP Bomto Kamdak and investigating officer CA Namchoom rushed to the spot and found one body in room number 108, and another, wrapped in a Chinese blanket, near the lodge’s entrance gate. Upon searching the bodies, the police found identity cards.

The body with the bullet mark on the head was identified as that of Alang Sario, 22, and the other body, which bore deep gashes and had half of its skull missing, was identified as that of Chogung Sario, 52.

The police linked the murders to the recent killing of one Choya Lamnio by one Fayang Sario, who is currently booked under 302/201/34IPC R/W section 27 Arms Act. The two murdered persons at the tourist lodge were identified as Fayang’s father and brother. They had been killed in retaliation.

Sources said that on May 17 last Choya, 52, along with five  men had gone to Sapapuh jungle in Khenewa area to collect medicinal plants. The group was carrying an SBBL gun. Five days later, the party returned to Lamnio village, but without Choya. The men told his relatives that he had gone missing.

Choya’s son and other relatives went to the jungle in search of the mission person; but despite their efforts they found no clue of Choya’s whereabouts.

Suspecting foul play by the five men, Choya’s relatives brought them to the Seppa police station, where one of them confessed during interrogation that he had accidentally shot Choya with the SBBL gun and later concealed his body in the jungle.

A case was registered and the police arrested all five for the alleged murder of Choya Lamnio.

On the evening of June 5, Choya’s son Pritam Lamnio booked a room in the DUDA tourist lodge. Some hours later, he along with two or three others brought Chogung Sario and Alang Sario from Type-I Colony to the tourist lodge in a vehicle owned by one Atum Lamnio. The father and son were detained at the lodge, apparently on the pretext of holding discussions under customary law. They were reportedly murdered by Pritam Lamnio and others with firearms and machetes sometime after two o’clock in the morning.

They then tried to carry away Alang Sario’s body, which bore bullet injuries, to another location. But on seeing the movement of vehicles on the road nearby, they left the body near the tourist lodge’s gate. Police said Chogung Sario must have been attacked with a dao while he was asleep as there was no sign of struggle in the room.

Pritam Lamnio, Senia Lamnio and Atum Lamnio have since been arrested for the duo’s murder and booked under 302/34IPC R/W section 27 Arms Act.

“The vehicle used by the accused during commission of crime has been seized and investigation is going on for recovering the firearms and the machetes,” Kamdak said.

APYC condemns demand for CM’s resignation, President’s Rule in state

ITANAGAR, June 10: Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) strongly condemned the demands made by some organisations for imposing President’s Rule in the state and resignation of the Chief Minister.

“These newly-floated organisations, without understanding the meaning of President’s Rule and its implications on the State, are singing to the tune of the Bharatiya Janata Party. This clearly shows that the demands of such organisations are politically motivated and tinged with ulterior motives,” APYC said in a release.

Interestingly, our State has often witnessed mushrooming of such opportunistic organisations during political upheavals. These organisations can mislead certain sections of the society but not the Governor, it said.

The organisations should back their allegations with facts and figures, instead of beating around the bush. The Congress Party and State government will welcome the instituting of any inquiry if these organisations come up with evidence for their allegations, the youth Congress said.

The Congress Party will not protect any of its leaders if they are found guilty, it said and appealed to these organisations to exercise the minimal self-restraint before going ahead with baseless allegations.

The allegations over non-payment of salaries to government employees are baseless. Barring a few categories of employees engaged in centre-based projects, the salaries of all other employees are being disbursed on a regular basis. Student’s stipends are also being disbursed regularly, it said.

Moreover, there are appropriate bodies to raise these questions, if there is indeed any foul play.

“We must understand that all the ongoing projects were sanctioned by the UPA Govt.  Some of the projects are halfway complete only because of the fact that the remaining installments have not been released after the BJP-led Govt came to power at the Centre” the release said.

The APYC appealed to all the stakeholders, including students' unions, civil society groups and NGOs, to stand hand-in-hand in these testing times of heavy rainfall and floods in every part of the state, and strive together to overcome the odds posed by nature. Indulging in cheap political blame-games will not yield anything, it added.

The associations should engage themselves in social services to prove their existence, instead of seeking to indulge in political crossfires amongst the political parties, the release added.

A ‘Lesson’ to terror groups, says India while Myanmar denies claim

New Delhi, June 10: A day after Army carried out the first of its kind surgical strike in Myanmar, Government today said India's response is a "lesson" to all militant groups that it will not hesitate in going beyond its borders to eliminate terrorists.

As the pre-dawn cross-border operation appeared to signal a possible change in India's counter-terrorism approach, the Government also said it has "zero tolerance" towards terror and terror organisations.

In the first such cross-border operation, special forces of the army in coordination with the air force yesterday carried out a surgical strike inside Myanmar, killing insurgents of the groups believed to be responsible for the ambush in Manipur that left 18 soldiers dead. A total of 38 insurgents were killed in the strike, according to latest reports.

Elite commandos of the army in coordination with the air force went a few kilometres inside Myanmarese territory to destroy two camps of insurgents hiding there after their attacks in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh last week by suspected NSCN(K) and KYKL outfits.

Meanwhile, Myanmar today denied media reports that Indian forces had attacked militants inside its territory and said it would not tolerate rebel groups using its soil to attack neighbours.

Zaw Htay, Director of Myanmar's presidential office, said: "According to the information sent by Myanmar Army battalions on the ground, we have learned that the military operation was performed on the Indian side at India-Myanmar border," he said.

"Myanmar will not accept any foreigner who attacks neighbouring countries in the back and creates problems by using our own territory," he added. PTI

Shun violent method

The incident of assaults on government officials continues unabated in the state. In the latest such incident, yesterday Executive Engineer Power department, Nirjuli division was assaulted by a group of people. The incident took place in the evening hour at his office. As per the report, group of seven boys attacked him and also ransacked office over a work order issue.

Today police arrested all the accused and have put them behind the bar. The incident has been condemned by everyone. Every time such incident takes place condemnation pours in from cross section of the society. However apart from condemnation, no concentrate action takes place. After few days everyone forgets about the incident and moves on. The criminals also get bail easily which further emboldens them.  But the question is how long such casual attitude towards crime will continue? Besides ensuring stringent punishment to the criminals, the society also needs to socially boycott such outlawed persons. Unless elders come out and properly guide the young generation Arunachalees, the situation will only get worse in days to come. People of Arunachal should understand that violence is not the solution to the problem. They should seek legal help to fight if they feel discriminated.

Retrospect and then comment

Dear Editor,

In response to the title “Give them a chance too” which was published on 3rd June’2015 in your esteemed daily. We would like to apprise that, whatever published was not authentic as well as do not reflect the ground reality of GHSS Rumgong.

According to one Nini Tapak, the reasons for the results of school being poor was because of poor teaching as well as irregularities by the subject teachers.

Here we would like to clarify that we have never neglected our teaching whatever subjects/topics is assigned to us. Moreover all the teachers are well qualified & produce good pass percentage for last couple of years. In such a scenario, how can you say that our teaching was poor? And there is no question of irregularities of subject teachers as we have taught regularly in every possible way.

Second reason was non completion of syllabus. In this regard, last year there were only 4 subject teachers (PGTs) i.e., in English, Hindi, History & Geography. The English (PGT) was on maternity leave and the three subject teachers have completed the syllabus on the scheduled time & some teachers have done revision too.

Third reason was some teachers never turn up to the school throughout the year. Surprisingly, the above reason has shocked and disheartened us as it questions sincerity & dedication. If there was/were any teacher(s) who did not turn up throughout the year then let us know the fact. We ask you who was/were those teacher(s).

Fourth reason was some teachers teaches the students for 2-3 weeks & goes off on leave. In this connection, there is a provision for every govt. employees that he/she can avail leave. Accordingly, we hardly applied for leave, only in case of exigency, since most of the teachers belonged to far off places. In addition to that we have always resumed our respective duty on time.

According to Tapak, in class 10, there were 35 students, 8 were able to pass. Actually, there were 31 students & 8 students have qualified but that doesn’t mean that rest have failed instead they have been placed in EIOP. Further, according to him in class 12 there were 42 students, 19 passed, 10 compt. &13 failed but the fact is, there were 44 students, 27 passed, 07 compt. & 10 failed.

Therefore, instead of blaming & criticizing the teachers of GHSS Rumgong, Tapak must retrospect and ask what he  has done for the good cause of school & its students. So, we definitely would like to ask the writer how many times he has gone to the authorities for filling up the vacant positions of subjects teachers in Economics(PGT), Pol/Science (PGT),Maths(TGT),Science (TGT), Pol/Science (TGT),Economics (TGT),History(TGT) & Geography(TGT).

Yours,

Teachers of GHSS

Need for revolutionary shift towards natural and organic foods

Dear Editor,

This Maggi debate turns to be an eye opener!

Best food for human health: Natural or industrially processed? Artificial Chemically Contaminated or godly gifted naturals?

This health hazards posed by Maggi is just the tip of iceberg. Human body is a natural body and the natural foods in its unaltered state are the best for health without any harmful effects. Because, this is naturally created body, Mother Nature has the best composition of needed chemicals in the form of endowments of natural foods compared to the artificially created varieties for its healthiness. The Super science & Technology of Mother Nature is the perfect one to give perfect food produce.

This Maggi controversy is just tip of the iceberg. All the industrially processed are definitely inferior and hence potentially harmful to health of natural body. Human Science lacks perfection and the yardstick of healthiness of any industrially altered food will keep on changing but the potential risk and damages to human health is absolute. Human Science lacks perfection to manufacture food items that is without harmful side effects. Human Science & Technology will never ever reach the perfection to trace all the harmful effects of industrially processed foods on human health but health hazards can be minimised tremendously with perfection. Proponents of human development and those in authorities across the globe need to infuse indispensable change in management of food resources.

All the food processing industries and products need to be gradually phased out from human civilisation to reap revolutionary benefit in human and public health. That way, agriculture & horticulture will also need drastic changes in its approach towards localisation in production and distribution within proximity to areas of human settlements so that garden fresh food items are readily made available without need for processing. Farming techniques need to gradually shift towards artificial chemical free organic farming. The foods that is available to human today all around the world are factually akin to dangerous slow poison being contaminated with harmful artificial chemicals during production, processing and storage. The focus need to be towards production and distribution of organic, natural food items. And that is where the field of agriculture, horticulture that is seriously underestimated assumes the greatest importance and challenge to human civilisation and its propagation. On its part, the people, consumers can imbibe wisdom towards healthier natural and organic foods to stay healthier.

Obviously, the huge number of people engaged in food processing and allied industries, distribution & trading will be hurt, but those can be productively relocated if the changes are gradually infused. A revolutionary shift towards natural and organic foods for human will reap tremendous health benefits for the humanity.
